Enhancement: Location blocking causes policy (Released in 10.0.41)
This feature provides control over blocking input and output operations in warehouse management locations when creating warehouse work. The new location blocking causes policy determines whether location-based blocking should also prevent warehouse work from being created or executed.
To begin, navigate to: Warehouse Management > Setup > Inventory > Blocking Causes
Here, you can define a blocking cause. For this example, we'll create a cause called "Maintenance". This cause will be used to mark locations that are blocked for maintenance purposes.
Use for warehouse work: If selected, any location associated with this cause will block warehouse work (e.g., movements, picks, etc.).
Don't use for warehouse work: If selected, the system will allow warehouse work to proceed, even if the location is blocked for input or output.
Next, go to: Warehouse Management > Locations
Choose a location (e.g., B01-001
) and assign the "Maintenance" blocking cause for Input or Output blocking as needed.
Let’s test how this policy affects warehouse operations:
A license plate is currently located in B01-002
.
We'll attempt to move it to B01-001
, which is currently blocked for input due to maintenance.
Use the Warehouse Management Mobile App:
Navigate to the Movement menu item.
Scan the license plate.
Attempt to move it to B01-001
.
Click OK.
You should now receive the following error message:
"Location B01-001 is blocked for input."
To allow the movement despite the block:
Go back to the location setup for B01-001.
Change the policy for the blocking cause to:
Save your changes.
Retry the license plate movement using the same steps.
This time, the movement will be allowed, confirming that the blocking policy is now excluding warehouse work processing from the block.
Blocking causes can be configured with or without blocking warehouse work.
The policy allows for flexibility in managing blocked locations, ensuring that maintenance or other temporary blocks don’t unnecessarily halt operations.
This feature enhances control and automation in warehouse workflows.
