View the sales of a service item in D365FO

Since service items (unlike stocked items) don't go through inventory transactions, you focus on sales order lines, invoices, and revenue reporting

Ways to View Sales of a Service Item in D365FO

1. Sales Order Lines Inquiry

You can directly view where the service item was sold.

Steps:

  1. Go to Sales and marketing > Inquiries and reports > Sales order > All sales orders

  2. Use the filter or search for your service item number in the Lines view

  3. Add filters:

    • Item number = [Your Service Item]

    • Optional: Date range, Customer account

  4. You’ll see all sales orders where this service item was sold

2. Sales Order Invoice History

If you want to focus on invoiced (revenue-recognized) sales:

Steps:

  1. Go to Accounts receivable > Inquiries and reports > Invoices > Invoice journal

  2. Filter by:

    • Item number = [Your Service Item]

    • Status = Posted

  3. You can view:

    • Invoice number

    • Customer

    • Date

    • Quantity and price
